Atomic Habits




The hardest part about doing something new/difficult is crossing the "Valley of disappointment".


When we put in efforts to do something new, like building a habit, we expect a linear graph.

However, what really happens is that initially, the output is not at all proportional to the rewards. So, the graph is more like an exponential curve which is initially extremely slow. We expect a higher linear curve value, but we get a lower exponential curve value.

This area is called the "Valley of Disappointment". If one learns how to cross this valley, one can unlock true potential.
